Celo is designed to deliver quick, simple and cost effective two factor authentication to any user who has a mobile phone or an email account. During the standard login process the user is automatically sent a one time password to either their mobile phone, PDA or email account. When prompted they then enter this one time password. The password can only be used once and is only valid for a pre set length of time after which it expires. With this combination of user name, password and one time password users are able to verify that they are who they say they are and have in their possession their registered device.
